Extract from the live concert at Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen with Jan Harbeck Quartet. Saxophonist Jan Harbeck is a true master from everything from big blue ballads to more vibrant compositions. His quartet plays modern acoustic jazz with a warm, accessible and expressive performance. In 2008, the quartet received a Danish Grammy for their release ‘In the Still of the Night’, and they have since become one of the best-selling Danish instrumental jazz groups. The quartet plays a mix of Harbeck's compositions and selected lesser-known jazz standards with a focus on strong melody and irresistible swing alongside heartbreaking melancholic blues. For jazz nerds, it is worth mentioning that in 2020 Jan Harbeck bought grandmaster Stan Getz's Selmer saxophone from 1939. It can be heard on his album "Balanced" and at several live concerts. As members of his quartet you can also experience: Henrik Gunde (piano), Eske Nørrelykke (bass) and Anders Holm (drums). “The tenor saxophone is the sound of jazz. The soul of music. Once upon a time, Copenhagen had Ben Webster to breathe that soul into life. Now we have Jan Harbeck.” – Politiken Line-Up: Jan Harbeck - Tenor Saxophone Henrik Gunde - Piano Eske Nørrelykke - Bass Anders Holm - Drums
