Extract from the concert at Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen on 6 March 2026 with the Estonian jazz singer Karmen Rõivassepp and her quartet. Line-up: Karmen Rõivassepp - Vocals Simon Eskildsen - Piano Adrian Christensen - Bass Daniel Sommer - Drums The Estonian jazz singer Karmen Rõivassepp has had a meteoric career in recent years both at home and abroad. Her voice calls for deep emotions. She moves with playful ease between mainstream jazz, Latin and the contemporary both as an excellent singer and as a composer. She is a sharp interpreter and formidable improviser, and she appears with her clear, bright sound effortlessly on stage and exudes a warm charm. Her background as a pianist and arranger has given her a unique talent for jazz harmony and composition. In 2018 she received the Aarhus Jazz Talent Award, she has won Jazz Composer of the Year in 2023 for her collaboration with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra on the record Ambivalence. She has also won awards in Estonia, where she has lived for the last few years and collaborated with big bands around Scandinavia and the Baltic countries. In his own quartet, Karmen has created a close and inspiring collaboration with 3 Danish musicians who each leave their mark on the music, as they also do on the Danish jazz scene. The quartet is closely coordinated, and has an incredible ability to follow each other, and underpins Karmen's vocals with both strength and sensitivity.
