Akimbot is a 3D action-adventure platformer released on August 29, 2024, developed by French indie studio Evil Raptor and published by Plaion. It combines high-energy combat, exploration and platforming into a sci-fi romp set in a universe populated entirely by robots. The game is obviously inspired by the Ratchet and Clank series. The game’s premise throws you into the metallic boots of Exe, an outlaw robot who breaks out of prison at the very start of the story. With his unexpected sidekick, Shipset, at his side, Exe must travel across diverse planets and space environments to stop a mad scientist named Evilware and his growing armies. Along the way, the pair uncover galactic mysteries, gather allies and race against time to save the universe from impending doom. Akimbot blends fast-paced shooting with classic 3D platformer movement. You’ll blast through waves of robot enemies with a varied arsenal of weapons, upgrade gear using currency earned by defeating foes and breaking crates, and navigate terrain using jumps, dashes, grappling and wall-running. Some levels even mix in spaceship piloting and vehicle combat, giving the adventure a dynamic feel.
