Following their start to the new season last weekend, the West Somerset Railway were back in business today with some new locomotives in action along the line! We begin at Westridge in Bishops Lydeard, where Hudswell Clarke built 0-6-0T Works N.C.B Coal Tank No. 1857, which recently returned from the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway, was working steam engineman courses between Bishops Lydeard and Norton Fitzwarren, 49 years after another 0-6-0, Bagnall ‘Victor’ reopened the Minehead - Blue Anchor section of the WSR way back in 1976! GWR 2800 Class ‘Heavy Goods’ 2807 currently visiting from the Gloucester & Warwickshire ahead of it's starring role in the forthcoming Steam Gala, also made a welcome appearance, with a light engine run off Minehead, arriving into Bishops Lydeard shortly after 11.30, having been repaired following a brake fault last weekend, where it was put to work on the 12.25 Fish and Chips special, while WSR Mogul 9351 worked the standard steam services. Class 33 Crompton D6575 was used in a complex shunting move to rearrange the Quantock Belle stock before heading light engine up to Williton, and the DMU was also fired up for a test run and crew refresher training, so plenty happening throughout the day! | 29.03.2025 I hope you enjoy this video and thank you for watching!
