Most of the time, the two terms are used interchangeably without regard for which one is to be used when. During this roundtable discussion, we will focus on the meaning of theoretical and conceptual frameworks, as well as the relationship between the two. On the one hand, the theoretical framework in a study is based on an existing theory or theories; on the other hand, the conceptual framework is something you can develop yourself based on the theory and will explain how and in what sense these terms have been used in a specific study. Furthermore, in your conceptual framework, you can include your own concepts, constructs, or variables that you believe are relevant, and then proceed to explore or test their relationship.
