Big Horn Canyon is found within the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, which has been in the news as of late with the public lands argument around Bears Ears and surrounding areas. Jared and I had an abbreviated backpacking trip to Sand Creek along the Boulder Mail Trail, so we headed out on the Spencer Flat road and went for a out n back hike in the East Fork of Big Horn Canyon.
