The Sidecar has its origins in the 1920s, during the heart of Prohibition, when the great bartenders and drinkers of America flocked to Europe to practice their respective crafts. Harry’s New York Bar in Paris was one such place that they found a home and where the Sidecar was invented, supposedly in honor of a frequent patron who would arrive at the bar every evening on a motorcycle with a Sidecar. While the true origin of the name is lost to history, the most likely explanation is a bit simpler and lacks the same romance. When a bartender has cocktail left in his shaker, he will pour the excess into a small glass to serve alongside the finished drink. That small drink is known as a Sidecar. 1.5 oz. Cognac 1 oz. Orange Liqueur .75 oz. Lemon Juice Twist of orange Sugar the rim of a cocktail glass and place in the freezer to chill. Add the cognac, orange liqueur, and lemon juice to a shaker. Top generously with ice and shake until well-chilled, approximately 20-30 seconds. Strain the drink into the chilled glass. Spritz the orange twist over the glass to release its aroma and add into the cocktail. Learn more at http://www.sidecarcocktails.com Special thanks to: The St John Family Kevin O'Brien Sandra Ong
