"She met prejudice with principle, and division with service." This is the second to final tribute in the Western Nation memorial series for the heroes of the Bondi Beach atrocity (December 14, 2025). Today, we honor Edith Brutman, a woman who did not just preach love—she built a fortress out of it. She didn't just talk the talk, she walked it every day. As Vice President of the B'nai B'rith Anti-Defamation Unit, Edith dedicated her life to one singular mission: bridging the gaps between us. Where others saw enemies, she saw an opportunity to teach. She was a woman of "steel and velvet"—uncompromising in her principles, yet endlessly gentle in her approach. This song, "Fortress of Love," was written to immortalize her spirit. It speaks of a woman who stood as a sanctuary against the dark tides of hatred. She proved that the strongest walls aren't made of stone, but of kindness. To Edith's Family: To her children, her beloved grandchildren, and her many friends at the Harbour View Bridge Club: We offer our deepest, most sincere condolences. We know that she was the matriarch and the heart of your family. We hope this song serves as a reminder that her legacy of love is impenetrable and will stand forever. Rest in Peace, Edith. Your work is done, but your Fortress stands. Western Nation
