This is an affordable fun to drive sportscar and has major updates from the original Scion FRS and previous generation Toyota 86. So is the new GR86 any better? This new 2022 Toyota GR86 to my surprise was a lot of fun to drive! The new 2.4L Boxer engine packs about 30 more HP and torque compared to the 2.0L Boxer in the previous 86 and it makes a difference. Still a slow car, but now it has enough pep to get up to speed and feel balanced. I really liked how it drives. The automatic transmission is pretty good and responsive and really can be a lot of fun! The 6 speed manual is still my preferred transmission because of the added engagement, but if you need the daily driver friendly auto, it's not a bad option. I really had a blast driving around in the new 2022 Toyota GR86. Very impressed with how much nicer this GR86 feels and just how fun of a car it is.
