Th. Muivah, the General Secretary and Chief Political Negotiator of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN), has reiterated the organization's firm stance on Nagalim's sovereignty and freedom. His statement was in response to what he described as a betrayal by the Government of India (GoI) regarding the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015, which was intended to resolve the long-standing Indo-Naga political conflict. Muivah emphasized that Nagalim’s sovereignty, history, and territorial integrity—embodied in the Naga people's flag, constitution, and national identity—are non-negotiable. He insisted that any future political settlement must align with the spirit and letter of the Framework Agreement, particularly acknowledging Nagalim’s distinct political status. The Framework Agreement has been a cornerstone of peace talks since 2015, marking a significant step towards addressing the Naga issue through political negotiations. Muivah recalled the nearly 600 rounds of talks that began in 1997, highlighting the NSCN’s commitment to unconditional dialogue and international conflict resolution norms. However, Muivah criticized the Indian government's refusal to recognize the Naga people’s right to a sovereign flag and constitution, calling it a "betrayal" of the 2015 agreement. He warned that the NSCN would not accept any terms that undermine Nagalim’s sovereignty or national identity, reaffirming that Nagalim and India are distinct sovereign entities. He expressed disappointment with India's failure to honor the agreements made in good faith, despite the Naga side's efforts to maintain peace and stability. Muivah outlined possible actions the NSCN would take if the GoI continues to ignore the Framework Agreement, including seeking third-party intervention or returning to armed struggle. However, he emphasized that any violent confrontation would be a result of India's actions, not the Naga people's choice. Muivah closed his statement with a call for unity among the Naga people, urging them to remain resolute in defending their sovereignty. He concluded with a reference to faith, saying, "The battle belongs to God, and He shall fight for us." .
