This Encore recolor is both odd but nice. The original Oil Ocean's sunset colors are replaced with a more "clear skies/daytime" theme. It kinda clashes with the eerie, Middle-Eastern desert music and oil, but on its own, it seems fine. I like the new Special Stage ring placements that I find in Act 1 and 2, but I goofed with getting it in Act 2. The recoloring even affects the toxic fumes that plague Act 2. They're now a more cyan-colored gas rather than the burning orange fumes. One Special Stage ring I found in Act 2 is exactly where I would expect it to be. Inside the secret submarine you can find in that Act 2. Don't do what I did here, though, and making yourself distracted waiting for Super Sonic to surge with electricity. Your partner might accidentally force both of you out of the sub! ---------- The new transition into Lava Reef is probably now the coolest zone transition in the game, now. Not only is the Egg Capsule after beating the Act 2 boss on a sub now, but that sub somehow manages to fly you all the way to Lava Reef, itself! Follow this closely: That submarine goes from Sonic 2's Oil Ocean in Westside Island ALL THE WAY to Lava Reef, which is an underground location in Sonic 3 & Knuckles' Angel Island... Maybe try not to think about it too hard. But this whole transition finishes up right as Lava Reef starts. So you'll see it once I get my Encore Lava Reef video up and going.
