---- The Ultras Prato movement was born in the 1970s, following the national wave of Italian ultras culture that was spreading across stadiums throughout Italy. The city of Prato, proud and independent, soon developed its own organized supporters’ groups to follow A.C. Prato, the local football team that has historically played in Serie C. The first organized fans appeared in the late 1970s, with groups like Commandos and Boys Prato. These early supporters brought drums, banners, and blue-and-white flags to the Stadio Lungobisenzio. The atmosphere was passionate and often intense, reflecting the working-class identity of the city. In the 1980s, the Ultras Prato became more structured, adopting the typical ultras style: choreographies, chants, and a strong sense of belonging. Rivalries developed with nearby clubs — especially Pistoiese, Lucchese, and Carrarese — while friendships were formed with some other ultras groups in Tuscany and beyond. Like many small-club ultras scenes, the group faced challenges as attendance dropped and football changed. Despite periods of decline, the Prato ultras remained loyal, continuing to travel and support the team even in Serie D and regional leagues. Today, the Curva Ferrovia (the home stand at Lungobisenzio) still holds the heart of Prato’s ultras movement. Though smaller in number than in past decades, the group continues to uphold its traditions — loyalty to the city, independence, and pride in the blue-and-white colors. Their motto remains tied to identity and belonging more than success on the pitch. A.C. Prato (Associazione Calcio Prato) is an Italian football club based in the city of Prato, Tuscany. The club’s colors are white and blue, and its home ground is the Stadio Lungobisenzio, a historic venue that has hosted the team since the 1940s. The club was founded in 1908 under the name Società Ginnastica Prato, initially as a general sports association that included football among its activities. Football quickly became the main focus, and in the 1920s, the team began to establish itself regionally. Prato joined the Italian football league system and started competing in the lower national divisions. After World War II, Prato experienced its golden era. The club reached Serie B (Italy’s second division) for the first time in 1945–46. During these years, the team gained a strong local following, and the Stadio Lungobisenzio became a symbol of civic pride. However, the club struggled to maintain stability and was often relegated and promoted between Serie B and Serie C. From the 1990s onward, Prato became a stable presence in Serie C1 and C2 (later unified as Serie C). The team often finished mid-table but occasionally achieved memorable runs, including playoff appearances for promotion. The club’s youth academy also became well-known for developing players who later played in Serie A and B. In recent years, Prato has alternated between Serie C and Serie D, facing the challenges typical of smaller Italian clubs — financial difficulties, reorganizations, and stadium renovation issues. Nevertheless, the club remains deeply tied to its community, with supporters continuing to show loyalty and pride in the blue-and-white colors. A.C. Prato represents the city’s working-class spirit, independence, and local pride. While the club has never reached Serie A, it holds a respected place in Italian football history for its tradition, longevity, and passionate fan culture.
