Mr. Okada, former Vice-Minister for International Affairs at METI, drew on his own management experience to discuss how organizations can secure and develop new talent and expertise required for business expansion, and expressed expectations for the oil industry’s new challenges, given its long-standing tradition of confronting risk at the core of exploration and production (E&P). Ms. Alawadhi, Vice President at ADNOC from the UAE, presented sustainability initiatives centered on ESG and human capital strategies, introducing concrete examples that demonstrate efforts to balance business growth with social responsibility. Mr. Islahudin, Senior Vice President & Group Chief Human Resources Officer at PETRONAS from Malaysia, outlined human capital strategies designed to respond to the energy transition, including talent development initiatives and integrated reforms of future skills, organizational structures, and corporate culture. Mr. Terashima, General Manager at ENEOS Corporation in Japan, explained how job-based talent management and skill visualization enable optimal placement and technology transfer through skill-map-based approaches. During the discussion, there was an active exchange of views on human capital strategies, including management models that assume the use of AI, as well as the importance of talent development and training grounded in an understanding of job characteristics and corporate culture.
