Black-tailed rattlesnakes are a decent sized rattlesnake species getting up to 4 feet long and they inhabit the Southwestern United States all the way down into Mexico. Eating primarily warm blooded prey like mammals and birds, the black tailed rattlesnake is a classic pit viper just like all the other species of rattlers in the US! Using their heat pits to track prey and strike accurately, these are some of the most highly evolved snakes on planet earth!
