This is the last video of the session, and with it, the top 75 most used Pokémon in Ranked. This list is for January 2026 in Single Battles. (Meanwhile, they just announced an announcement for the Pokémon Presents, which is itself an announcement. Somehow, it feels like a very “tech industry” thing to make announcements for announcements…though this one is, of course, a third-layer announcement. It is also for their 30th anniversary—meaning much of its fans have never known a world without Pokémon.) 1. Ting-Lu (±0) 2. Koraidon (+2) 3. Calyrex (Shadow Rider) (-1) 4. Chien-Pao (±0) 5. Miraidon (±0) 6. Flutter Mane (+1) 7. Urshifu (Rapid Strike) (-1) 8. Landorus (Therian) (+1) 9. Ho-Oh (+2) 10. Dondozo (-2) 11. Zacian (+2) 12. Glimmora (-2) 13. Dragonite (-1) 14. Kyogre (+3) 15. Muk (Alolan) (-3) 35. Primarina (+7) 36. Lugia (+5) 37. Weezing (Galarian) (+8) 38. Incineroar (-3) 39. Wo-Chien (-10) 40. Skeledirge (-4) 41. Rillaboom (+6) 42. Rayquaza (+24) 43. Necrozma (Dusk Mane) (+6) 44. Kingambit (-1) 45. Breloom (-1) 46. Urshifu (Single Strike) (+2) 47. Tyranitar (-1) 48. Whimsicott (+2) 49. Gholdengo (+2) 50. Smeargle (+7) 51. Meowscarada (+4) 52. Zamazenta (+17) 53. Iron Valiant (+5) 54. Iron Bundle (+2) 55. Porygon2 (+7) 56. Heatran (-4) 57. Hippowdon (+23) 58. Toxapex (+5) 59. Kyurem (Black) (+2) 60. Chansey (+10) 61. Azumarill (+6) 62. Groudon (+14) 63. Ceruledge (+10) 64. Walking Wake (+8) 65. Corviknight (-5) 66. Hatterene (+15) 67. Overqwil (+30) 68. Roaring Moon (+5) 69. Dragapult (-4) 70. Garchomp (+9) 71. Ninetales (Alolan) (+18) 72. Brute Bonnet (-18) 73. Iron Crown (+2) 74. Baxcalibur (+10) 75. Umbreon (-7) Restricted Pokémon, once again, prohibits Mythical Pokémon, so we no longer have Arceus, Pecharunt, or Magearna. With that, other Pokémon filled in the void: Hippowdon, Hatterene, Groudon, Overqwil, Garchomp, Alolan Ninetales, and Baxcalibur. At 62nd overall, this is also Overqwil’s highest standing for single battles so far. The prevailing strategy appears to be as a physical wall, using Intimidate combined with a Defense-increasing Nature to wear out opponents by inflicting Poison. By doing so, it also gets good matchups against Focus Sash users, even special attackers like Flutter Mane and Shadow Rider Calyrex. At 42nd, this is also Rayquaza’s return to this rank range after falling off during last year’s third quarter. Undoubtedly, this is due in part to Kyogre, Groudon, and Koraidon turning up on this list to set weather and them being accompanied by weather-dependent Pokémon like Archaludon and Rapid Strike Calyrex for rain; or Flutter Mane and Chi-Yu for harsh sunlight. Rayquaza’s Air Lock nullifies all weather conditions (and resets Koraidon’s Attack boost from it), giving it a favorable matchup against Koraidon in particular by hitting super-effective Dragon Ascent attacks. The preferred Tera type is Normal to deal with Shadow Rider Calyrex. With Single Strike Urshifu sitting about 40 to 50 ranks below Rapid Strike Urshifu and seemingly settled there, I wonder where it’d be if Wicked Blow’s power remained at 80. (The move, with Single Strike Urshifu along with it, was nerfed to 75 power for Scarlet and Violet.) I also wonder if Koraidon’s Orichalcum Pulse and Miraidon’s Hadron Engine will be nered later on too, just as Kyogre’s Drizzle and Groudon’s Drought were nerfed (and, on the same line of signature Abilities for Legendary Pokémon, Zacian’s Intrepid Sword and Zamazenta’s Intrepid Shield were nerfed too). Type: Single Battle Opponent: 비얀 (Biyan) Battle Court: Naranja Academy/Uva Academy Music: Paradise Protection Protocol My Pokémon: Wilbur (Oinkologne) (Male), Carver (Veluza), Isaac (Iron Jugulis) Opponent’s Pokémon: 코라이돈 (Koraidon), 모아머 (Leavanny), 다투곰 (Ursaluna) (Hisuian) I mentioned earlier about this Oinkologne being a surprisingly good matchup against Koraidon, and you can see that in action. Collision Course would not have fared much better than Close Combat (though I had expected an immediate Scale Shot), though they would’ve still had Fire moves. This is one of those edge cases of one obscure Ability interacting with another Ability: in this case, yes, Lingering Aroma can override Orichalcum Pulse. (I don’t think Koraidon has been in the same game as Cofagrigus though, but I think Mummy can too, theoretically.) I don’t think Koraidon loses the Attack boost though. I also seem to get at least one of these almost every session: an opponent who ends in a disconnect. Considering the state of the match, I suspect this was indeed a ragequit. I’ll mark this one as a win.
