Adjunct Professor Forum: University-Industry Collaboration Saturday, 03 April 2021 at 11.00 am – 12.00 pm (Malaysian Time) Synopsis Universities are committed to excellent teaching, innovative research, and the personal and intellectual growth of its students in a diverse academic community. Emphasis on university-industry collaborations is a global trend not only in OECD countries, but also in emerging economies and increasingly in developing countries, including Malaysia. Often governments play a role in these types of collaboration, and these three-way partnerships between Industry-Government-University are sometimes called Triple Helix. For example, the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education) has highlighted the need to take collaboration between universities and industries to the next level. The objective of this Webinar is to discuss how both institutions and industries could mutually gain from these collaborations by addressing the fundamental issues, such as: (a) What is university-industry collaboration? (b) Why would universities and industries collaborate? (c) What helps university-industry collaborations succeed? (d) Often, the partnership usually originates from the STEM areas, how can a university find an industry partner in the non-STEM (e.g. social science) areas? and (e) What would be the future models of university-industry collaborations in the post-Covid era? In this Webinar forum we are pleased to have a panel of three doyens, who are AeU’s Adjunct Professors and have the expertise in University-Industry Partnership to share their first-hand experiences on how to initiate and sustain this partnership, especially during 19 pandemic. Please welcome: Speakers: 1) Prof Dato’ Dr. Tan Yew Chong, Senior Adviser for Asia Pacific, Power China/ Sinohydro Corporation (M) Sdn Bhd.
