The Board of Commissioners serves as the governing body of Lackawanna County. The Commissioners are responsible for implementing operational policies and administering programs that deal with human services, public safety, economic development, and recreational and quality of life amenities in an efficient and cost-effective manner for the residents of Lackawanna County. The Commissioners are also intricately involved in establishing salary and personnel policies, hiring director level positions, appointing residents to Boards and Authorities, and serving as the Board of Elections.
