Ground Up Gathering 2025

Our Third Annual Ground Up Gathering brought together neighbors, nonprofits, higher education, small businesses, students, state agencies, employers, and community leaders to do something simple, but powerful: build solutions together. This free, community-led convening created space to talk honestly about the challenges facing Appalachian people, places, and prosperity, and to identify what’s already working, where gaps remain, and how we move forward together. Through Solution Labs, local social enterprise presence, interactive matchmaking, and hands-on trainings, attendees did much more than just talk about change - they connected ideas, skills, and partnerships to make it real. From workforce development and housing to energy, food systems, and placemaking, Ground Up Gathering helped bridge gaps to build regional growth from the ground up by the people who live and work here.
