Join me on a POV walk through San Pedro on a rainy morning in October of 2025. This walk weaves around downtown, up and down 6th and 7th streets, then down to the waterfront, past the tall ships and to the edge of the still under construction West Harbor project. San Pedro is a neighborhood at the far south of Los Angeles, it began as a Tongva settlement and later became an important port during Spanish and Mexican rule. By the late 19th century, it grew into a vital shipping hub, officially joining Los Angeles in 1909. Downtown San Pedro, especially along 6th Street, has transformed from a traditional commercial strip into a walkable arts and dining district. San Pedro is a maritime neighborhood, home to the massive Port of Los Angeles. In recent years, the area has seen major revitalization efforts, including the Downtown Harbor plaza and promenade at the foot of 6th Street. Now under construction is a major redevelopment called West Harbor that includes a new town square, mile-long promenade, and a massive entertainment complex.
