The New Frontier in HIV Pre-exposure Prophylaxis —Lenacapavir Update | An ICAP Special Event

In the ongoing search for new methods to address the HIV epidemic, the development of lenacapavir for HIV prevention is a major step forward. Findings from research studies has shown that twice-yearly injection of long-acting lenacapavir provides protection against HIV infection. This discovery offers great promise in advancing our progress toward ending AIDS as a public health threat. In this special lecture, hosted by ICAP at Columbia University, Moupali Das, MD, MPH, vice president, Clinical Development, HIV Prevention and Virology Pediatrics at Gilead Sciences, provided an update on research findings on lenacapavir for HIV prevention. Her talk covers the status of the PURPOSE 1-5 studies, reviews ongoing implementation science studies, and looks at the pipeline for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) at a pivotal moment for the global HIV response.
