Dave is an award winning practitioner with over 18 years experience in the field of health and social care, with extensive knowledge of both clinical and non-clinical practice. He has particular skills and knowledge in dementia care, trauma, practice development and quality improvement. With a varying degree of specialisms including, Adult Support & Protection in dementia care, person-led care education and supporting unmet needs. As the Senior Dementia Consultant at the University of Stirling, he is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals living with a dementia through evidence-based practice, research, and education. Most recently, Dave has co-founded Innovare, a brand new Dementia Consultancy. He says, 'Our work is about more than strategy or training – it’s about influencing real change in how people living with a dementia are understood, supported and valued.' Dave and I met when i reached out to him at the DSDC in 2025, to pick his brains and talk about 'all things dementia' including the importance of design and modern use of language when communicating. Dave has been a wonderful part of my network, and his ability to get people talking about dementia is one of the things that i admire about him the most.
