Hello friends! After a long break, I've decided to make a comparison video with my Blade Penta; I switched its pick-ups and the onboard preamp. I upgraded the factory set to DiMarzio Ultrajazz in 2007, but the preamp remained the original. Few months ago I got an idea to try a full Sadowsky upgrade (pick-ups and preamp) for it, how could it sounds. I very like the live version of this song performed by Mezzoforte in Reykjavik in 2007. I loved the DiMarzios, it has got very bright and sharpness however I missed the low and mid range punch from the bass. Second, the orig. preamp works only active with battery, and sometimes made me surprise when discharged suddenly... So I've bought a second hand Sadowsky set which was taken out from a Chinese made MetroExpress model, and made it loaded by a friend of mine, thank you Hurgi! The change was significant, you can hear it, I recorded samples in passive and active mode as well. I didn't boost any range not bass or treble either at every sample, flat EQ was set to make a real comparison. And not used any EQ or compressor in software (SONAR Platinum), only a light tube modelling, so the raw bass signal can be heard. I used Moises app for android to remove the original bass track from the song, which is played by the great Johann Asmundsson, one of my very first influence for bass playing and slapping... He used a Sadowsky Metroline MV5 which has a great tone, I wanted know how much my Blade could cope it... (my fingers definitely not... :D) Here you can check the original video: • Icebreaker in HQ (Mezzoforte) The operation was not perfect, the app removes only the low range of the bass, the "pluckin" sounds sometimes stayed in it, couldn't recognize it. So checked them out, and I look forward to your opinions pro or kontra... Thx!!! I don't have the copyrights of this track, the owner not known yet, still seekin for it. ----------------------------------------------------- patreon.com/szunabass
