Saiyan, 1951 Director: M. Sadiq Music Director: Sajjad Lyrics: Rajinder Krishan, D.N. Madhok, Hasrat Jaipuri Choreography: Krishna Kumar Playback: Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Shamshad Begum Cast: Madhubala, Sajjan, Ajit, Raj Mehra, Leela Chitnis, Jayant, Ramesh Thakur, Cuckoo, Abbas, Ramesh Sinha, Amar, Amir Ali An IMDB synopsis says this about Saiyan: "An unusual, tragic saga of star-crossed lovers and a family caught in the calamitous backwash of a forsaken romance. An orphaned village girl is given shelter in a respected home and wooed by the two sons of the family. This, combined with the headstrong, impulsive nature of the younger son, leads to a uniquely disastrous three-way relationship that ruins and ultimately destroys the family." It's a remake of the 1946 US film, Duel In The Sun, with Jennifer Jones, Joseph Cotten and Gregory Peck. No translation, sorry. The source was a VHS tape provided by Mrs. Anand by way of Dr. Surjit Singh. My sincere thanks to the both of them. There's a blur in the lower part of the screen during most of each song. Apparently, something called Shalimar Recording Company thought it was a good idea to deface the film with scrolling advertisements during the songs. I refuse to let those nasty things appear in the videos I upload. During the final quarter of the film - off and on - there's a much thinner blur across the middle of the film frame because of a horizontal line that appeared on the VHS tape. Noticeable some of the time, not during others. TOOLS USED FOR THE FILM: AviSynth for the video editing Audacity for the audio work.
