ONGOING GIANT HOGWEED INVASION IN SUSSEX! Well ... baby ones.

After three days glued to my computer screen, I forced myself out for what turned out to be a long (13 miles) walk on a dull wet day. It only took a few minutes before the autumn colours and cool rain convinced me I'd done the right thing. Being outdoors is our natural state. Only fifty generations have passed since we were living in draughty caves and mud-straw huts, so our senses haven't evolved to appreciate our hermetic lives. One of the joys of walking, even in the local and comparatively flat countryside, is that you never know what's around the next corner. In my case, it was a copse of baby giant hogweed, lurking in their favourite damp habitat near the River Arun.
