I had heard of this city Jiufen before, that it resembled the town from Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. Having watched the movie multiple times, I didn't believe that a fictitious town such as the one from Hayao Miyazaki's movie would be based off a real city. Although he had denied the allegations before, that the town had been based solely off of Jiufen, the people of the city seem to believe that the city resembles the one in the movie, and when I visited, the town had a lot of similarities.
