Home video shot during the first gulf war. If you're here just to watch big guns go BOOM, then FF to ~8:30. The CIWS & 5" are also making an appearance. Back story: The Captain of BB-64 during the war was Captain David S. Bill III (you see him at ~5:00). Prior to the Wisconsin, he was my Captain on the USS Mobile Bay CG-53. A shipmate of mine, as a re-enlistment bonus, was able to get a helo flight from The Mob (as they called us) over to the Wisconsin. He took this video (I took the stills from our fo'c'sle). There's lots of vids out there of the 16's, but not many from the bridge. A few shots on the bridge showing the 17.5" thick pillbox hatch & a some quick shots inside one of the turrets. Remember this is with a hand held VHS recorder from 1991 so this is not 4K Ultra HD. Also, the radar arrays,specifically our 49E, always wreaked havoc when outside recording. The US Navy played a key role in our dominance in that war that often gets overlooked. Anchors Away !
