Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're gonna take a look at this Curt Echo under-dash proportional trailer brake controller. This Bluetooth-enabled brake controller wirelessly connects to your smartphone, turning your phone into a brake controller interface. Smart device OS requirements for the Apple iPhone is gonna be iOS 5.0 or higher, and for your Android devices the operating system software is gonna be 4.3 or higher. Now this is a proportional brake controller, so what that means is it's going to activate your trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's breaking action. And it activates immediately, no pausing like with time-delayed brake controllers. This will work with trailers up to four axles or eight brake assemblies. And it's designed for use with electric or electric over hydraulic trailer brakes. Now this main module is going to mount out of sight and at any orientation, so no more banging your knee on a bulky brake controller. There will be no interference with your airbags or your other vehicle accessories. And the Bluetooth is going to connect directly to your smart device for operation allowing you to operate the brake controller from the cab of your vehicle using your smartphone. The intuitive, user-friendly app is going to let you connect, monitor, and control all of your trailer breaking activity, such as adjusting breaking power and aggressiveness, receiving error notifications, if your trailer is overloaded or becomes disconnected during travel, and customize and switch between trailer profiles. The triple-axis accelerometer is highly responsive to ensure smooth, uniform stopping action, and it allows the unit to automatically level and calibrate. Now, once the Echo is mounted, it will sense via that internal three-axis accelerometer, how your tow vehicle breaks. This inertia-based sensor responds to the deceleration of your tow vehicle as you break by signaling the controller to send out enough power to your trailer brakes, so that they are activated with an intensity that matches. The result is uniform breaking across your towing setup, so there's gonna be no push pull action, just smooth proportional breaking every time. Now the LED indicator light on the body of this controller is going to allow for troubleshooting. And this quick quick reference guide is gonna be very handy to help you determine the status of that indicator light, and helping you through that troubleshooting process. I would recommend keeping this quick reference guide in your vehicle, just in case you have any issues, this is going to be able to help you and walk you through those troubleshooting scenarios. Now, I want to look at the switches here, they're very small, but the first switch here is going to be the brake light activation feature with manual control, and the second switch is gonna be, that will control the level of output available to the trailer brakes when using the manual control. So your instruction guide or installation manual will guide you through those steps, if you need to manipulate those switches. There are integrated safeguards to protect the vehicle, the trailer, and controller, such as the controller is built to function based on selected settings, even if the Bluetooth connection is lost. And built-in reverse polarity and short circuit protection. So for instance, if for whatever reason your smartphone becomes disconnected from the controller, the controller is going to remember the last settings that we're programmed in it with your smartphone.
