At –72°C, even breathing feels like breaking glass. On a narrow ledge carved into a sheer cliff in Yakutia, a 70-year-old Yakut couple live alone in a primitive stone house, with nothing but rock, fire and their own skill standing between them and the void. From dawn to night, every step is a calculation. The old man climbs through the blizzard to cut deadwood and haul ice from the cliffside. The old woman keeps the stone hearth alive, sweeps snow out of the stone room, patches worn clothes and kneads rough dough into flatbread and hand-pulled noodles. Together, they cut holes in the frozen lake, pull fish from black water and turn them into smoked rations over a low, smoky fire on the edge of the cliff. But in the storm beyond the firelight, another life watches. A white snow leopard circles the ledge, following the scent of fish and smoke. As its cry cuts through the blizzard, the couple answer not with panic, but with experience: snares hidden under the snow, torches fixed into the stone wall, a ring of fire and smoke drawn tightly around their tiny home. This film follows one frozen day and night on a –72°C cliff: a 70-year-old Yakut husband and wife holding their ground in a stone house above the abyss, smoking fish, reading the mountain, and quietly outlasting the snow leopard and the storm.
