Title: RUBBER FOR INDUSTRY (:07-:22). Firestone Plant in Fall River, MA. The ship Taurus unloads its rubber and latex. An African map, Liberia. Basic material, liquid latex drips from a tree. A man moves rubber. Factory. Rubbers ar unpacked: neoprene, butyl rubber, nitrile rubber, reclaimed rubber, GRS synthetic rubber. Rubber is cut in the factory (:23-2:35). Factory workers. Rubber is carried by cranes. Chemists work in a laboratory on formulas. After raw material is loaded into a mixer, it is kneaded. Animation shows the process. Rolls blend the stock of rubber in a machine, a worker helps it along. Rubber is sliced. A worker takes a sample to have it checked to make sure it is correct. A hydraulic press steams the rubber. The rubber gets stretched (2:36-5:35). Stiffness is checked. Rubber is lifted by a forklift. After the mill batch is ok, the rubber is rolled to the desired thickness by a colander machine.
