Sustainability is the ability to maintain a steady condition over an indefinite period of time; Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. Sustainability is about establishing and maintaining the systems required to assure long-term existence; Resilience is about quickly and consistently being capable to recover, to overcome crisis, disturbances or disruptions. The two concepts are tightly intertwined. We are here introducing our first lecture series of the year with the topic "Principles for Resilient Design in Architecture" by Dr. Miguel A. Robles-Cardona. Miguel A. Robles-Cardona is an Associate Architect at the VERITAS Design Group since 2018. Miguel currently leads several key projects at VERITAS. Among those, he plays a leading role in one of VERITAS' state-of-the-art projects, the Oxley Towers in KLCC, an 80-storey mixed-use development which completion is targeted by 2023. Miguel has widely spoken on design at several universities in Spain, Italy and Malaysia, participated in numerous local and international design conferences and forums and being featured in several local and international architectural and design magazines.
