Hello everyone! Welcome back to Sigil. My name is Kevbot, and this is the third episode in my series on the history of D&D, one book at a time, where I take an anthropological approach to understanding the history of Dungeons & Dragons, the people who created it, and the people who play it. In this episode, I am going to analyze the efforts to spread Dungeons & Dragons throughout 1974, as well as efforts to grow the company Tactical Studies Rules, or TSR. My focus in this episode will be on how Gary Gygax overcame the barriers that D&D faced during it’s initial release in 1974, as well as how he worked to overcome the financial struggles of TSR in its early days. We’ve got a ton of information to cover today, so lets get started! 0:00 Introduction 0:45 Part 1: Selling Dungeons & Dragons - Initial Attempts 24:49 Part 2: Spreading Dungeons & Dragons - Wargamers Become Role Players 40:39 Conclusion Bibliography of sources used for resources in creating the video: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n...
