Every day I have to start out by saying this might have just been the greatest day of my life but I swear it is true! Today was unbelievable and I will never forget this day for the rest of my life. It started waking up in the middle of the night to see some incredible stars, when I woke up, it was the most beautiful sunrise you could imagine. I enjoyed it thoroughly and watched until it was done showing off. I had to have a healthy breakfast so naturally dropped some mini m&m's into my nutella jar and ate some spoon fulls. I am living right baby! Then I started the descent. Today's beauty was untamed, magnificent, untouched, raw, full views, high country, alpine zone, it was everything I had dreamed of. Maine is where it is at. I will live here someday. I hit some beautiful stone bald ridges, I slipped and fell down a 20 foot rock face and was so lucky to not have any injuries. I noticed a beautiful owl in the morning and took it as a good omen. It was just the owl and I peacefully looking at eachother. Found some cool frogs too. I saw a girl that was known as Cat..when I met her on day 6. She had some near death experiences and received the new trail name, "8 left" the cat that used one of her 9 lives rafting. She had flip flopped in Virginia and so she was headed southbound. So cool that she remembered my name and face and we made the connection. I entered the glorious MAHUSIC NOTCH! Known as the most fun and most difficult 1 mile riverbed of the entire Appalachian trail. It carried delicious almost sacred water that I drank from. Then took the next 36 minutes maneuvering and navigating through the huge boulders, caves, and sharp rocks. It was actually very fun, I was relaxed but focused, hopping from one rock to the other. Then the Mahusic Arm began. That is what took it out of me. All of the technical rocks, mud bogs, steep climbs, views. Today seriously had it all. Best day as far as trail goes on the entire hike I think. It is where I would tell someone to go do for a day if they had to. I felt pretty exhausted early in the afternoon and as soon as I admitted it out loud, I received a phone call from Taylor, it was a blessing. Then I was coming down the big speck mtn where I will return for the fire tower, and George and Liv/z had two sandiwches, gatorade, and protein bars for me. I wish I could repay them someday. They were my truest trail angels, what a blessing! Then I met a wizard that seriously gave me great advice and I swear he is a real wizard, I want to be him someday. I made it doen to the highway and pressed on and upwards to the beautiful bald mountains. It was spiritual, I was all alone, it was beauty! Dropped down through the trees and found the best campsite next to a waterfall at night. What a day! .
