Sea Kayaking Shetland Islands A Unique opportunity to kayak inside the tidal tunnel labyrinth of Fogla Skerry off the West coast of Papa Stour situated West of mainland Shetland. The caves and passageways inside the tiny island are swept by tidal streams, created and scoured by the Atlantic swell. It's a unique kayaking experience to negotiate the many passages and care must be taken to avoid being caught across the many narrow channels as the tidal stream rushes though with associated swell. This was part of a day trip to explore up the west side of Papa Stour and out to the Ve Skerries some 3 miles to the Northwest, returning to Papa Stour and exploring the 300 metre subterranean tunnel that cuts right through the Northwest headland and returning down the West side of the island and back across to Melby
