Parents and players — this might change how you train. When it comes to hitting, what’s more important: ⚾ Perfect swing mechanics? ⚾ Or making the right decision to swing (or not swing)? The answer: Decision-making. Mechanics matter — yes.Strength matters.Movement patterns matter. But none of it helps if you’re swinging at bad pitches. You can have: 🔥 Elite bat speed 🔥 Great attack angle 🔥 Perfect cage mechanics …but if you’re chasing sliders in the dirt or taking hittable fastballs, it won’t translate to games. Here’s something powerful: Even the best hitters in baseball create more value from good swing decisions than just the quality of their contact. That means: ✔ Knowing the count ✔ Knowing the situation ✔ Knowing your approach ✔ Knowing which pitches to attack That’s what separates a “swinger” from a “hitter.” Too many young players are taught:“Swing hard.”“Don’t take the first pitch.”“Be aggressive.” But rarely are they taught: 👉 What’s a good swing decision? 👉 What’s the plan in this count? 👉 What’s my job with a runner on second and no outs? The game rewards hitters who can think — not just swing. Parents — ask what your athlete is training. Is it just mechanics in a cage?Or are they learning how to read counts, recognize spin, and compete? Players — if you want to separate yourself, stop chasing the “perfect swing” and start mastering the strike zone. That’s how you become a complete hitter — not just someone who swings at fastballs and walks back to the dugout. 🎧 Full conversation on the Tower Sports Advising Podcast.#YouthBaseball #HittingDevelopment #BaseballIQ #CollegeBaseball #BaseballParents
