It is composed of 16 cities: the city of Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig, and Valenzuela, as well as the municipality of Pateros. It is the 2nd most populous and the most densely populated region of the Philippines. It is also the 9th most populous metropolitan area in Asia and the 5th most populous urban area in the world. ■ MAKATI: It is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. Makati is the financial center of the Philippines; it has the highest concentration of multinational and local corporations in the country. Major banks, corporations, department stores as well as foreign embassies are based in Makati. The biggest trading floor of the Philippine Stock Exchange used to be situated along the city's Ayala Avenue, before the stock exchange moved their HQ to the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Makati is known for being a major cultural and entertainment hub in Metro Manila. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 629,616 people making it as the 17th most populous city in the country and ranked as the 41st most densely populated city in the world with 19,336 inhabitants per square kilometer. Although its population is just half a million, the daytime population of the city is estimated to be more than one million during a typical working day because of the large number of people who go to the city to work, shop, and do business. Makati is divided into 33 Barangays, namely: Bangkal, Bel-Air, Carmona, Cembo, Comembo, Dasmariñas, East Rembo, Forbes Park, Guadalupe Nuevo, Guadalupe Viejo, Kasilawan, La Paz, Magallanes, Olympia, Palanan, Pembo, Pinagkaisahan, Pio del Pilar, Pitogo, Poblacion, Rizal, San Antonio, San Isidro, San Lorenzo, Santa Cruz, Singkamas, South Cembo, Tejeros, Urdaneta, Valenzuela, West Rembo, post proper Northside and Southside disputed barangay. ■ PASAY CITY: It is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 440,656 people. Due to its location just south of the City of Manila, Pasay quickly became an urban town during the American colonial period. Pasay is composed of seven districts, subdivided into 20 zones, with a total of 201 barangays. The barangays do not have names but are only designated with sequential numbers. The largest zone, with an area of 5.10 km2, is Zone 19, which covers barangays 178 and 191. The smallest zone with an area of 10 hectares (25 acres) is Zone 1, covering Barangays 1 to 3 and 14 to 17. It the newest and largest terminal at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport complex, the airport serving the Manila metropolitan area, Philippines. Terminal 3 is built on a 63.5-hectare (157-acre) lot that sits on Villamor Air Base. A four-level shopping mall connects the terminal and parking buildings. The terminal is capable of servicing 33,000 passengers daily at peak or 6,000 passengers/hour. A 220m long footbridge that opened in April 2017, known as Runway Manila, connects the terminal with Newport City. The terminal has 34 jet bridges and 20 contact gates with the ability of servicing 28 planes at a time. The terminal has 70 flight information terminals, 314 display monitors, and 300 kilometers (190 mi) of fiber optic I.T. cabling. It has 29 restroom blocks. The departure area has five entrances all equipped with X-ray machines with the final security check having 18 X-ray machines. Its baggage claim has 7 large baggage carousels, each with its own flight display monitor. Terminal 3 has the capacity to handle 13 million international passengers annually.
