Class 99 Test Runs Break New Ground At Trimley Station 15/2/26

Hello Everyone, On Sunday the class 99s made history , as they visited the Felixstowe line and the port for the first time. They are also the first locos apart from the 66s to pull a container train out of the port since 2019, so it was an extraordinary moment to see. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side , and we all got absolutely drenched even hiding under the footbridge. If it wasn’t for the weather I would have stayed for the other moves. But overall I was extremely happy to see something other than a 66 on my line. And I cannot wait for them to enter service. Along with 99001 and 99002 66301 and 66721 were bought along with insurance purposes. According to drivers the 99s climbed the steep hill much faster than the current 66s even though it’s a much heavier load than the 66s usually pull.
