Join us on a journey through Kajiado, Narok, and Samburu counties in Kenya! 🇰🇪 Every school holiday—April, August, and December—our high school sponsorship team travels across Kenya to check in on our sponsored students. We monitor their academic progress, identify those who need extra support, and celebrate their achievements. This time, we combined student and parent outreach with the awarding of scholarships to new beneficiaries! 🌟 In Kajiado County, predominantly inhabited by the Maasai people, cultural challenges like early marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM) still threaten young girls' futures. Light Up Hope is working hard to break these cycles by empowering girls through education. Watch the joy as new scholarship recipients share their hopes for the future! 🌍 In Narok County, known for the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve, similar challenges exist, but so does a rich culture and deep connection to the land. We continue our fight against harmful practices like child marriage and FGM, helping girls step into a brighter, safer future. 🦓 In Samburu County, we encountered unique cultural traditions, including the harmful practice of "beading." Our mission remains strong—to equip young girls with education, opportunity, and hope. For many of our students, they are the first in their families to ever attend school. Their education is not just changing their lives—it’s transforming entire communities. ✨ We are so proud of these brave young women and can't wait to see the future leaders they will become.
