MOD IN PROGRESS! KONE M Series/Otis Compass 360 Elevators at Place Ville Marie in Montreal, QC

Filmed on April 13th, 2022. I didn't think this day would come anytime soon, but the VERY RARE & EPIC KONE M-SERIES Elevators at Place Ville Marie are now being modernized by Otis! :( This building was originally built in 1962 and the elevators here were all Otis Autotronic with Touch/Heat Sensitive buttons, then modernized/replaced in 1992 by KONE with the M Series fixtures (Which are VERY RARE in the Americas!) and for the past 2 or 3 years, Otis has been modernizing these again, and the modernization is expected to be completed by the end of the year. So far, from what I can see, Otis is doing a pretty solid job on the Modernization, but I'm still very upset about it nonetheless as finding a KONE M Series outside of Asia or Europe is EXTREMELY RARE and this is one of only a few North American installations in existence and now they're being replaced. Not only are the buttons and CHIMES really cool, but I absolutely LOVE the REALLY COOL Indicators that show your progress in the shaft to the floor you're going to! You NEVER see that ANYWHERE!!! And these elevators are EXTREMELY FUN to ride and have incredible thundering stops that the New Otises just don't have! There are some other KONE M Series installs in Quebec, however they're not nearly as easy to access (most are in hospitals that I couldn't make it into due to COVID restrictions) as these are, and these also don't have the Unique Indicators these have nor do they go as fast or as high as the elevators here do. As of my visit on the day of recording this video, there were only THREE working original M Series elevators left in the building. One of the banks was almost completed with its modernization and already had its Compass Panel in use (I didn't film this bank) and the other 3 banks only had one original elevator per bank with the rest fully modernized and one out for modernization. In High Rise bank, the only working M Series elevator was the Service Elevator which serves all of the floors, and has a GAL JetPlus COP on the side of the cab with buttons for all of the floors while also having its dual M Series COPs with only buttons for the High Rise floors!!! Definitely VERY UNIQUE and not something you see everyday!! With all of this being said however, if you guys REALLY WANT to see and film the M Series Elevators here in their original form, you'd better get here within the next couple months as this is YOUR LAST CHANCE!!! I do personally think the modernization looks nice, but the Uniqueness and Coolness M Series just CANT be BEAT and it WILL be missed.... Installed in 1962.
