Bengaluru fights to keep its lakes alive, but it faces a challenge yet again, this time from its own civic body, the BBMP. The civic body has been caught dumping truckloads of mud and debris into Hosakerehalli Lake to create a pathway for vehicles right in the middle of the lake. Now, while the allegations are that this is an entire unauthorised move, the BBMP claims that the pathway is only to move equipment for desilting and cleaning the lake. Now, following the public backlash, BBMP Special Commissioner Ravindra has ordered a halt on the dumping of debris in the Hosakerehalli Lake, and instructions have been given to remove the debris that has already been dumped.
