We've never considered the notion of hot tenting with a canvas tent and wood stove...until now. It seems like so much work; constantly searching for and processing wood, cold temperatures and harsh conditions, staying up most of the night stoking the wood stove, all the setup time and effort. Then we were offered the opportunity to try a White Duck Regatta 10' canvas tent, along with an Esker Huron wood stove and we fell in love. We're winter tent campers now, for sure. . The pristine water of Lake Superior, the world's largest freshwater body (by surface area) was calm and serene, with an almost aquamarine hue to it when we arrived in mid-April 2025. The sun was shining and the tent was cozy, but the sound of the softly breaking waves on the shore was enough to hypnotize us. We expected much more snow and ice where we camped, but the farther North we travelled, the less snow and ice we found. Sandy beaches and warm sun, coupled with the aquamarine water, made us feel almost tropical in the midst of a Boreal spring. The beauty of the moment was palpable and we hope that just a little bit of that translates through video and sound to you folks at home (or wherever this finds you). . We are so lucky in Northern Ontario, and places like this are relatively plentiful along the shores of Lake Superior, but are becoming more and more rare and precious. The ecosystem is quickly becoming more threatened by development, and the ever-increasing human traffic enjoying the magic of the Big Lake each year, so it's important to keep in mind the leave-no-trace principles and general practices of conservation. Check out the Lake Superior Watershed Conservancy (link below) to see who they are, what they do, and how you can help preserve possibly the most important water body in the Western Hemisphere. . . 0:00 Introduction 0:39 BotB Intro Sequence 1:12 Day 1 12:35 Day 2 . #THISISHOWWECAMP #getoutside #crownland #winter #camping #canada #ontario #offgrid #whiteduck ...
