It's taken us this long to finally venture into Canada's first established (and most travelled) Provincial Park - Algonquin. In a weekend filled with natural beauty, hard work, serene lakes, waterfowl and solitude, we explore a remote corner of the most popular wilderness park in Ontario. . Accessing via the South River access point (1B), we find one of the best camping spots we've seen on Pishnecka Lake and use that as a base camp for our weekend of adventure. We then portage 13 times from base camp around the NW corner of Algonquin Provincial Park to explore the lakes and trails that surround us. We encounter such beauty and solitude that we forget that we're adventuring through Ontario's busiest backcountry camping destination. .
