The Saloon is a very crucial and interesting bit of the American West, and American Lore in a real sense, still to this day. In fact-- millions upon millions of Americans likely, came from someone conceived, in a saloon in the Wild West. Saloons would vary depending on the settlement, location, and usage of the land surrounding them. Railroad towns saw wealthy large saloons with many amenities, while distant mining camps could be a few walls and canvas covering a table or roughly hewn bar. The saloon existed before many other businesses or services would exist in an area, as liquor and its often partnered service - sex- were generally universal commodities or for the ladies-a service, in territories and frontier lands. The Saloon would evolve as the business owners would quickly find additional services offered meant more money coming in, and gambling would quickly be accompanied any number of combinations of - room and board, meals, mail, trail provisions, stables, prostitution and mining exchanges- that an owner could provide, for potentially hundreds of miles. This meant that the Saloon was The Place to Be, and saw everything from justice, to town meetings, to wealthy railroad endeavors, marriages and death, all play out at its tables and bar. Those that remain today in fact crawl with paranormal teams in their off hours, attempting to harness what energy is said to remain within the wood and floors from such an emotionally important structure, to so many souls.
