Nastaran is a postdoctoral researcher in Statistical Sciences at the University of Galway, Ireland, working on Functional Longitudinal Data Analysis in the HealIAsyst project under Prof. Andrew Simpkin. Previously, Nastaran worked on Statistical Neural Networks at the University of Limerick. Nastaran holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Statistics from Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, ranking 2nd and 10th in national entrance exams. With over 10 years of teaching experience, Nastaran lectured in inferential statistics, time series, and biostatistics at various levels. Nastaran’s expertise includes applied statistics, computational methods, and statistical modeling, with publications in leading journals. Amir is a postdoctoral fellow at CÚRAM Research Ireland Centre for Medical Devices, University of Galway, Ireland. In 2023, he completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Galway, where his research focused on synthesizing nitric oxide (NO)-scavengers and fabricating NO-scavenging hydrogels to treat triple-negative breast cancer. He holds an MSc in Biological and Bioprocess Engineering from University of Sheffield, U.K. (2016) and an MSc in Biochemistry from Helwan University, Egypt (2015). Amir has over a decade of expertise in biopolymer modification, hydrogel development, and synthetic chemistry. He has received notable fellowships, including the Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship (2023), an EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship (2022), a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship through the H2020 3DNEONET program (2019), and the HPC-Europa3 Transnational Access Fellowship (2019). His research focuses on developing compounds and materials that modulate reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) for biomedical applications, with a particular emphasis on regulating nitric oxide levels to target breast cancer tissues.
