On this day Tornado was returning to Darlington North Road via the Avoider line. The forecast was for heavy rain so I hoped to see that then get to the station for the next two charters, but the rain did not come so instead I stayed at the bridge waiting for the Diesel hauled charter and Black 5 hauled one which was booked to reverse into the siding where the steam locomotive would be detached, the train reversed in and no steam to be seen, instead they had taken the Black 5 out of the North end of the station. to be serviced before being turned and setting off South without the train which was to be Diesel hauled on the return.
