HELVELLYN ascent via Striding Edge, descent via Swirral Edge

We set off from Glenridding village filming the valley approach and along both Striding Ridge and Swirral Ridge giving as much visual information as we could in our usual quiet ambient way. We were lucky with the weather, dry rock and good visibility, breezy on the summit of Helvellyn but both ridges were sheltered from the wind. This is a Grade 1 scramble which means you need to use your hands, especially at the ‘chimney’ or bad step but if you have a good fitness level it’s perfectly ok. Do treat this walk with respect, it can be a challenge for some who are usually affected by exposure, but there are quite a few small paths just below the ridge which you can drop down onto.
