REPENTANCE – Removing idols and sin 2. SUFFERING – Walking in the footsteps of Christ 3. JUDGEMENT – Facing God’s holiness and judgment 4. HOPE – Awaiting redemption and resurrection Jeremiah 31:40 II. Gate 7: THE WATER GATE SYMBOLISM: THE WORD OF GOD John 17:17 THE IMPORTANCE OF GOD’S WORD 1. GOD’S WORD IS INSPIRED AND DIVINE—2 Timothy 3:16-17 2. GOD’S WORD EQUIPS US FOR LIFE AND MINISTRY—2 Timothy 3:17 3. GOD’S WORD CORRECTS AND CLEANSES—Psalm 119:9,11 4. GOD’S WORD GIVES LIGHT AND DIRECTION—Psalm 119:105 5. GOD’S WORD STRENGTHENS FAITH—Romans 10:17; James 1:22-25 (NIV) 6. GOD’S WORD TRANSFORMS LIVES—Hebrews 4:12; Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) CONCLUSION: It is the Holy Spirit who renews, refreshes, and empowers us from within. It is by the Holy Spirit that we are washed, strengthened, and made new. This is why Nehemiah rebuilt the Fountain Gate. To remind the people of the Spirit's supply of living, moving, restorative, healing, and hope-filled water. A wellspring that filled the city and filled their lives, supplying every physical and spiritual need. Then at the Water Gate, we understand the desire of Nehemiah’s heart and burden from God to reestablish an entry gate where the water of God's word can wash over the lives of those in the city of Jerusalem.
