How to keep swimmers of different abilities engaged in a fast-paced swim group or team? In this video, Ailene Tisser (co-founder of Swim Angelfish) shares 4 adaptive swim tips to promote engagement in a swim group for swimmers with special needs. Tip 1 - Incorporate Sensory Drills Simple flip turns in between laps or diving underwater is a great way to integrate sensory drills in between your swim drills. Tip 2 - Refocus Attention Having your swimmers climb out of the pool in between laps or engaging in a 'Simon Says' activity can help maintain or regain their attention throughout a session. Tip 3 - Assign a Leadership Role Having a swimmer lead a team cheer or assist you with equipment is a great way to improve the attention of a swimmer who may be having trouble following along with the group. Tip 4 - Incorporate Friendships and Team Building Promote social interaction between your swimmers by facilitating questions and talking points for them.
