What botany or ethnobotany student wouldn't love the chance to go and visit Africa?! Seeing Africa's fabled plant diversity in situ, experiencing first hand the traditional ethnobotanic uses, understanding the issues that affect plant conservation. Not to mention some of the epic, extraordinary trees and shrubs only found in Africa. How awesome would that be?! The problem, of course, is that Africa can be a an expensive destination to visit. But fear not. There's an alternative. Join me, Gus Le Breton (the African Plant Hunter) on a virtual safari. I make videos about African plants to help raise awareness on their uses and importance. My videos are primarily aimed at an audience within Africa. But now I'd like to offer educators outside Africa the opportunity to bring your students virtually to our beautiful continent. I can make bespoke videos specifically for you on any topic related to botany, ethnobotany and broader plant conservation. Examples include: Botanical characteristics of a particular plant species Medicinal properties of a plant species Ethnobotanic uses of a plant species, including showing actual examples of traditional use Descriptions of key characteristics of different plant families Basic guide to plant identification Bespoke guides to a wide range of other concepts in field biology and biodiversity conservation and management All of these are done in clear, easily understood English, in an informal and friendly manner. I can also organise subtitles in other languages if needed. I can do all of these at affordable rates, tailored to your individual needs, with your own branding and to any desired length or format. Not only is it authentic and genuinely field-based, it’s also set here in Africa, which probably provides very different backdrops to the ones your students are used to.
