This video shows how to replace the ear and head pad foam in Sennheiser HD580 headphones. I removed the old, decayed open-cell foam in the pads and installed closed-cell visco elastic (memory) foam. From what I've read, 'memory foam' is just branding for generic 'visco elastic' foam, which is off-patent, and inexpensive compared to the stuff Tempur-pedic sells. The procedure is straightforward, but very time consuming; I spent approximately 3 hours to complete this process, but I ran into a few unforeseen complications. Difficulty: Easy Time required: 60 - 180 minutes Tools required: visco elastic foam, X-acto knife, some other common household items Credit goes to user 'Bob8' on the head-fi.org forums for originally posting this procedure.
