In this video I’m exploring the top 10 famous places in Old Dhaka city which include: 1. Baitul Mukarram National Mosque – This is the national mosque of Bangladesh, located in the heart of Dhaka. It was completed in 1968 and can hold around 40,000 worshippers at one time, making it one of the largest mosques in the country. Its modern cube-like design is inspired by the Kaaba in Mecca and blends traditional and modern architectural features beautifully. 2. Zero Point (Dhaka) – A major intersection and meeting point in Dhaka, known as Zero Point Chowrangi, where many locals and visitors begin their city tours. This place is very lively, especially during evenings. 3. Haji Biriyani (Since 1939) – A legendary biriyani restaurant founded in 1939, famous for its rich and authentic taste. I tried their biriyani, lassi, and local food. Sitting with locals here was an amazing experience because they are very friendly and welcoming. 4. Ahsan Manzil (Pink Palace) – One of Old Dhaka’s most iconic landmarks, built in 1872 by Nawab Khwaja Abdul Ghani and named after his son, Nawab Khwaja Ahsanullah. It was the official residence of the Nawabs of Dhaka and now serves as a museum showing historical artifacts from the Nawabi era. Its pink facade and grand architecture reflect a mix of Mughal and European styles. 5. Tara Masjid (Star Mosque) – A historic and beautiful mosque in Old Dhaka known for its intricate star-shaped tile decoration and elegant architecture. A peaceful place to pray and admire local craftsmanship. 6. Lalbagh Fort – A famous unfinished 17th-century Mughal fort built on the orders of Prince Muhammad Azam Shah and later overseen by Shaista Khan. The complex includes a mosque, tomb, and gardens — one of the top historical sites in Dhaka. 7. Hussaini Dalan – A historic Shia religious building (Imambara) from the Mughal period, used for religious gatherings and commemorations, especially during Muharram. Chowk Bazaar (Chawk Bazaar) – One of the oldest and busiest marketplaces in Old Dhaka. This area is full of ancient shops, vibrant crowds, and street food stalls offering classic Dhaka snacks and sweets. It’s especially famous during Ramadan for its iftar bazaar food culture. 9. Bahadur Shah Park – A historic urban park in Old Dhaka dedicated to the memory of the soldiers from the 1857 rebellion. Built in the 19th century, it’s a calm, green oasis surrounded by colonial-era monuments and statues. 10. Baldha Garden – One of the oldest botanical gardens in Dhaka, originally established in 1909, showcasing rare plant species from around the world. After prayer, I walked through the ancient streets and bazaars.
